renewable energy - MACH 282 Episode 4

The students in Mach 282 begin putting together components of their wind turbine. "The process was pretty amazing, the way the different instructors interacted with each other and us and how much was in our hands. It was all on the table. Anything was possible," said student Hether Frayer, who kept a journal of the process. "I wouldn't have understood how complicated the machines are without seeing every tiny piece that went into it." As the rotors are sanded and the components for the generator come together, students and instructors talk about why we need to explore renewable energy. "I come from an oil-producing country and I understand the fact that these resources are not going to be there forever," said student Raymond Gabriel-Ojo. "If you have an eye for the future and think where the world is going, then you realize and appreciate the fact you can't go anywhere better than harnessing the energy from something, a resource, that is free and always out there."
